Veil Terms of Service
Effective date: 16 August 2026
The short version
Use Veil legally and decently. Don't attack the service or other people. We give you the app in good faith but can't promise it will always be perfect. If something goes seriously wrong, your legal rights as a UK consumer are fully protected — nothing in here takes them away. Disputes are handled under the law of England and Wales.
Now the full version — still written to be read.
1. Who we are and what this is
These terms are an agreement between you and Veil Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17342128, registered office 64 Kingsway, Coventry, CV2 4FE, United Kingdom). "Veil", "we", and "us" mean Veil Technologies Ltd.
By creating an account or using the Veil app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Veil — we'd rather you not use the app than agree to something you're not comfortable with.
Our Privacy Policy (https://veilsuperapp.com/privacy) explains how we handle data. It's part of the deal too, and it's short.
2. Who can use Veil
You must be at least 16 years old to use Veil — a deliberate decision by the Company, weighing the compliance burden of a lower age threshold against Veil's current stage as a pre-revenue startup, to be revisited as the Company grows. If you're under 18, you should have your parent or guardian's permission.
You must also not be barred from using services like ours under any law that applies to you.
3. What Veil is
Veil provides:
- Private messaging — end-to-end encrypted messages between you and your contacts.
- Voice and video calls — end-to-end encrypted calls.
- Maps and navigation — on-device navigation that doesn't report where you go.
- VPN — currently in early access; see section 8 on early-access features.
Because messages and calls are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot see their content. This cuts both ways: it protects your privacy, and it also means we cannot recover messages for you, moderate the content of private conversations, or restore anything if you lose your device and your keys. Your conversations are yours — including the responsibility for backing them up. (Veil doesn't currently operate a backup system for message content — if that changes, this section will describe the real mechanism before it goes live, not after.)
4. Your account
- Keep your device and account secure. You're responsible for what happens through your account unless it was compromised through a fault of ours.
- Keep your account secure and don't misrepresent who's using it. (There's no sign-up information to get wrong in the usual sense — your Veil ID is generated on your device, not something you type in.)
- One account per person. Don't create accounts by automated means.
- If you think your account has been compromised, tell us at support@veilsuperapp.com.
You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings. Deletion is permanent — see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data (short answer: it goes away).
5. Acceptable use
Veil exists to give ordinary people real privacy. Privacy is not a licence to harm others. You must not use Veil to:
- Break the law — including fraud, distributing illegal material, or infringing others' rights.
- Exploit, endanger, or sexualise children in any way. We treat this with zero tolerance and will report child sexual abuse material to the relevant authorities wherever we become aware of it.
- Harass, threaten, defame, or intimidate people.
- Send spam or bulk unsolicited messages, or use Veil for automated commercial messaging.
- Distribute malware or attempt to compromise other users' devices.
- Attack, probe, overload, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or otherwise interfere with the service or its security. (Good-faith security research is welcome — contact support@veilsuperapp.com. We don't yet run a formal, published disclosure policy — as a solo-founder, pre-launch project, reports go directly to a real person, not a process.)
- Resell or commercially exploit the service without our written agreement.
- Use the VPN to do anything on this list. The VPN changes where your traffic appears to come from; it doesn't change what's legal.
Because we can't read private content, enforcement of these rules is based on things we can see: user reports, abusive patterns of account behaviour (e.g. mass-messaging), and information provided to us lawfully. If you break these rules, we may warn you, suspend you, or terminate your account depending on severity — serious cases (like child exploitation or attacks on the service) mean immediate termination.
6. Your content
We don't claim ownership of anything you send through Veil. It's yours. Since we can't read it, we couldn't do much with it anyway — and that's the point.
You're responsible for what you send. Encryption protects your messages from us and from third parties; it doesn't change your responsibility for their content.
7. Our stuff
The Veil app, name, logo, and code are owned by or licensed to Veil Technologies Ltd. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. Don't copy, sell, or misrepresent the app as your own.
8. Early-access features
Some features — currently the VPN — are clearly marked as early access or beta. These are works in progress: they may be unstable, may change substantially, and may be withdrawn. Please don't rely on early-access features for anything critical. We'll always be upfront in the app about what's early access.
9. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Veil running, but we don't promise uninterrupted or error-free service — no honest software company can. We may update the app, add or remove features, or suspend the service for maintenance or security reasons.
If we ever decide to shut down Veil entirely, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice where reasonably possible.
10. Price
Veil is currently free. If we ever introduce paid features, we'll tell you clearly before you're charged anything, and these terms will be updated. (If you buy something through Veil Shopping, that's a separate purchase of goods, not a fee for Veil itself — normal UK consumer purchase protections apply, and refunds for any App Store-billed purchase are handled by Apple under Apple's own terms.)
11. Liability — the honest version
The law of England and Wales gives consumers strong protections, and nothing in these terms reduces them. Specifically, nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under law, including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (digital content must be as described, fit for purpose, and of satisfactory quality).
Beyond that, here's the fair allocation of risk:
- We're responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
- We're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, losses caused by your breach of these terms, or losses arising from events genuinely outside our control.
- Veil is provided for personal use. If you use it for business, we're not liable for business losses such as lost profit or lost business opportunity.
- We're not responsible for the conduct or content of other users. We give you tools (blocking, reporting) but we can't control what other people do.
- A specific, honest warning about the VPN and encryption: these are strong tools, but no technology guarantees absolute anonymity or security against every adversary. Don't bet your life or liberty on any single piece of software — ours included.
12. Ending the relationship
You can stop using Veil and delete your account at any time, no questions asked.
We can suspend or terminate your account if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, if we're legally required to, or if we discontinue the service. Except in serious cases (illegal activity, harm to others, attacks on the service), we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (like ownership, liability, and disputes) do so.
13. Disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If something goes wrong, please contact us first at support@veilsuperapp.com — most problems can be fixed by talking.
If we can't resolve it, you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you're a consumer living elsewhere, you keep any protections given to you by the mandatory laws of your country. We don't force arbitration and we don't stop you joining claims with others — you keep your normal legal rights.
14. App Store terms
Because you get Veil through Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Veil.
- Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no warranty obligations beyond any refund of the purchase price where applicable.
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- You confirm you're not in a country subject to a relevant government embargo and not on any prohibited-parties list.
- Your use of the app must also comply with Apple's App Store terms.
15. Boring but necessary
- If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term immediately, we haven't waived it.
- We may transfer our rights under these terms to another organisation (for example, if the company is acquired) — but your rights, and the privacy promises made to you, transfer with them. You can't transfer your account to someone else.
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Veil.
16. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll notify you in the app before the changes take effect, with reasonable notice for anything significant. If you keep using Veil after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with a change, you can delete your account — and we'd rather lose you as a user than trick you into terms you didn't accept.
